While the Material Safety Data Sheet for VMAC compressor oil states that it is “Not expected to be harmful if inhaled”, compressed air generated by oil lubricated compressors MUST BE treated by an appropriate air treatment system before it can be considered “breathable” as per current CSA and OSHA standards. Grade-D filtration systems are available from a variety of companies including:  3M*  Air Systems International*  Bullard* *Reference in this bulletin to any specific commercial product, process, or service, or the use of any trade, firm or corporation name is for information and convenience only, and does not constitute endorsement, recommendation, or favouring by VMAC. The air supplying a Grade-D air treatment system will generally need to be cooled via a VMAC Eliminator (or similar device) and/or an auxiliary air tank, however it is the responsibility of the end user to ensure that the air supplying their air treatment system meets any requirement for their treatment system. The responsibility for the quality of breathing air rests solely with the user. Compliance with federal, provincial/state, or local regulations are the responsibility of the user and this recommendation does not supersede any existing rules, regulations, or laws which may apply. VMAC makes no claims, promises, or guarantees about the accuracy, completeness, or adequacy of the contents of this bulletin, and expressly disclaims liability for errors and omissions in the contents of this bulletin. VMAC and its employees are unable to make any comment regarding breathable air beyond that contained in this bulletin. Additional Information The information contained in this document is based on current standards as set forth in:  CSA Standard: Z180.1-00 Compressed Breathing Air and Systems  OSHA Standard: 1910.134 Respiratory Protection The MSDS for VMAC compressor oil can be found here: http://vmacair.com/wp-content/uploads//files/vmac_oil_msds_sheet.pdf | SCUBA
