Technical Support Subject Multifunction Power Systems Engine Coolant Level Verification Version Document Department Revision Details Revised by Tech Engineering Implemented A EXT-MF-006 Tech Document Release BDJ 19Mar2019 GB N/A 19 Mar 2019 Knowledge Base: www.kb.vmacair.com Page 1 of 1 Email: firstname.lastname@example.org Web: www.vmacair.com Technical Support: 1(888)241-2289 Toll Free:1(800)738-8622 Fax: 1(877)740-3201 SYSTEM OR PARTS AFFECTED • VMAC Multifunction Power Systems OVERVIEW • Under normal conditions the Reserve Coolant Tank will give a visible indication of the cooling system level. • If the coolant level in the reserve coolant tank drops, the reason for the coolant loss must be found immediately and remedied before resuming operation of the Multifunction. • If the coolant level in the engine and radiator is allowed to drop excessively, the cooling system may not draw coolant from the reserve coolant tank. • If this situation arises, coolant added to the reserve coolant tank may not supplement the level in the rest of the system and a critical cooling system failure can occur, resulting in severe engine damage. • An accurate assessment of engine coolant level in the radiator as well as in the reserve coolant tank is prerequisite to regular maintenance procedures in order to obtain optimum cooling system capacity. SAFETY Check coolant levels when the system is cold. BEFORE YOU START Refer to the applicable engine manufacturer’s owner’s manual to determine the correct coolant required. PROCEDURE Establish a Baseline • Coolant level in the reserve coolant tank should be at the “Full” mark. • The radiator cap must be removed and the coolant level in the radiator checked. o Coolant level in the radiator should be at the base of the filler neck. Daily maintenance • Verify that the coolant level in the reserve coolant tank is correct. • Verify that the radiator coolant level is correct (in units where the radiator cap is accessible). IF COOLANT LOSS IS DETECTED Units with cabinet heating system connected to the Multifunction Check all cabinet heating system hoses and connections to and from the Multifunction, ensuring all connections are tight and there is no leakage. • Replace any leaking components and/or correctly tension any loose clamps. If a leak is not found in the cabinet heating system, or a cabinet heating system is not installed, and a leak within the Multifunction Power System is suspected: Contact VMAC Technical Support at 1-888-241-2289 or email@example.com Do not operate the Multifunction Power System until coolant leaks have been repaired and system coolant is at the recommended level.
