Bulletin: EXT-VR-077 Subject: 2008 - 2010 Ford 6.4 Dual Alternator Conversion to single Alternator Dept: Tech Date: 9 March 2015 Systems or Parts Affected: • Underhood70 (V900110) 2008 – 2010 Ford F250-F550 SuperDuty • Underhood150 (V910008) 2008 – 2010 Ford F250-F550 SuperDuty Background: VMAC system is not compatible unless converted to single alternator system. Resolution: To remove the second alternator the ECM must be configured. If you do not make this configuration then a code will be set in the vehicle and the charging system may not function properly. You can tie back the remaining harness or may be able to purchase the single harness at the Ford Parts Dept. Please provide the following to your Ford Dealer: • Oasis Special Service Message Number: 19746 • Message title: 2008 F-SUPER DUTY - ADDITION / REMOVAL OF SINGLE / DUAL ALTERNATORS (SERVICE TIP) OASIS MESSAGE: IF ADDING/REMOVING AN ALTERNATOR ON A 2008 F-SUPER DUTY: IF YOU WANT TO REMOVE AN ALTERNATOR FROM A DUAL ALTERNATOR SYSTEM OR ADD AN ALTERNATOR TO A SINGLE ALTERNATOR SYSTEM, THE VID BLOCK SHOULD BE UPDATED TO REFLECT THE CHANGE; IF ADDING A SECONDARY ALTERNATOR TO A SINGLE ALTERNATOR VEHICLE, THE SECONDARY ALTERNATOR FIELD IN THE VID BLOCK MUST BE CHANGED FROM 0 TO 120 AMPS; IF REMOVING A SECONDARY ALTERNATOR FROM A DUAL ALTERNATOR VEHICLE, THE SECONDARY ALTERNATOR FIELD IN THE VID BLOCK MUST BE CHANGED FROM 120 AMPS TO 0. USING IDS, SELECT TOOLBOX, MODULE PROGRAMMING, PROGRAMMABLE PARAMETERS, TIRE SIZE/AXLE RATIO, SECONDARY GENERATOR - (PCM) = NO SECONDARY ALTERNATOR, SELECT 120A SECONDARY ALTERNATOR, AND THEN PUSH "TICK".
