The aft-of-axle tank is available on all chassis vehicles. The aft-of-axle tank is compatible with the A700250 accessory kit. The 26 gal “midship” fuel tank is an available option on most Ford F-series chassis vehicles. The only exception is the F350 SRW, where the midship tank is fitted as standard. The dual tanks option on diesel vehicles also includes this tank. To successfully fit the A700250 accessory kit, this midship tank cannot be present. When such vehicles are fitted with 4x4 transmissions, the distance between the rear of the transfer case and the DEF tank will not be adequate to fit the VMAC air-oil separator tank. (Vehicles fitted with longer cabs will not experience this problem) Regular Cab 6.7L V8 4x4 Figure 5 Check for clearance To check the fit of the air-oil separator tank before ordering, measure the distance from the DEF tank forward to the 4x4 transfer case (see Figure 6 below). The AOST needs a minimum of 50 in to install successfully (depending on discharge fittings installed on the AOST). If there is insufficient clearance, the DEF tank can be relocated to the outside frame rail. Ford has introduced an approved provision for relocating the DEF tank using Ford components (see Ford SVE bulletin Q-267).
