Technical Support Subject Removal of Secondary Alternator from 2020-2023 Transit W/3.5L V6 Gas for UNDERHOODTM 40 installation. SYSTEM OR PARTS AFFECTED • V400029 UNDERHOOD 40 for 2020-2023 Ford Transit Van with the 3.5L Ecoboost V6 gas engine. • V400034 UNDERHOOD 40 for 2023 Ford Transit Van with the 3.5L PFDi V6 gas engine. OVERVIEW If a secondary alternator is present in the above vehicles, the engine must be converted to single alternator to install an UNDERHOOD 40 air compressor system. If the secondary alternator is removed, the van must be programmed for single alternator operation by using the Ford Pro Upfit Integration System (UIS). Go to the Ford Pro website at https://www.fordpro.com/en-us/upfit/uis for UIS access. Within UIS, access can be gained to the Software Editor and current DBC files. A valid FIN code is required. If a valid FIN code has not been previously assigned, one must be requested through the Ford’s PRO website.
